My name is Al McColl. I live in Mechanicsville, VA and I started painting several years ago in anticipation of retirement, after my youngest daughter bought me some sketching supplies. I had always had an interest in art and drawing, having taken some classes in college, but never really did any serious creating.

I love nature and God's creation. I try to capture His beauty and drama in seascapes, landscapes and simple scenes that catch my eye. I find it intriguing that painting people proves so difficult. Each person is unique in hundreds of ways. How do you explain that billions of people, that each have two eyes a nose, mouth, cheeks and ears, can each look only like themselves? Our Creator is the master craftsman of both people and nature.

If I can capture even only a little of the beauty that I see in a cloud or a wave or a face, I will be pleased.
